“Brainstorm” AI department, “father” of Google’s dangerous deepfakes technology officially joined Apple

According to CNBC, Ian Goodfellow, one of the leading brains of artificial intelligence at Google, moved to Apple as a director.
Recruitment comes at a time when Apple is actively bringing AI into their software and hardware. Just a year ago, Apple also drew another AI expert from Google, John Giannandrea, who led the AI department and searched. Since December last year, Apple has appointed John to become Senior Vice President of Machine Learning Strategy and Artificial Intelligence.
Currently, Goodfellow has updated his LinkedIn profile to show that he has moved from Google to Apple. He said he was a Special Projects Group machine manager at Apple. The Google spokesperson also confirmed his departure.
Besides developing AI for features like FaceID and Siri, Apple is also researching self-driving cars. This department recently had to cut some employees. Earlier, Mr. Tim Cook used to call machine learning and AI was an “important field” for the company.
Goodfellow is the father of a new approach to AI, also known as GANs or Generative Adversarial Networks, which allows two artificial neural networks to work together to produce create models for them to learn or “create” themselves without human supervision.
These faces are all created by AI based on GANs and completely bogus.
The GANs systems are being used to create deepfake s – fake faces for communication.
Before Google, Goodfellow used to work for OpenAI, the AI firm was sponsored by Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman and many other leading names in the technology industry. Goodfellow’s GANs approaches are currently heavily cited in AI research papers.
