Bkav confirms the leak of old software source code from retired employees

On August 4, a newly created account named chunx**g was posted on R***forums – a forum for hackers – with the content of selling data related to the source code of licensed products. belongs to Bkav Group. According to this account, the data package is the source code of Bkav’s product.

“I hacked into their server and was able to dump the source code of the products, including the source code of BKAV Pro,” the account posted.

The account has posted information of 21 data files in the form of photos. The data sets all have Bkav’s name, but whether the data information belongs to Bkav or not has not been verified. The account holder also leaves a contact email address.

Unlike previous data sales, this account only posted information stored in the form of photos and no leaked data information was posted.

On August 6, Bkav informed about the incident through the Vietnamese cybersecurity forum WhiteHat.vn. Accordingly, Bkav confirmed, this is the old source code of some component modules of Bkav software.

The company said the above data was leaked more than a year ago from former employees who had left. At the same time, it is confirmed that the old component modules do not affect customers.
