AWS (Amazon web services)

Have you watched blockbusters on Netflix, bought items on Amazon, or booked rooms on Airbnb? If so, then you are using the AWS platform. Because Netflix, Amazon.com, and Airbnb all use Amazon Web Services for their businesses.

Amazon web services is at the top of the cloud computing market. According to analysts, AWS dominates 32% of the cloud computing market in Q3 2020 with the revenue of 111 million USD of infrastructure service.

The AWS data centers are distributed around the world: North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, .. But cloud (cloud computing) is not just about hardware and computing power. computing power. Software exists on every cloud platform and makes a difference for you. Helping you to upgrade valuable experiences for the people of your service.

So what really is AWS?

Amazon web services are web service platforms that provide solutions for computing, storage, and networking.

For example, you can use block-level storage or object storage to store your data.

You can use these services to create websites, run business applications, and mine big data.

Web services can be accessed over the internet using web protocol (HTTP) and interact by computer or user via interface.

The most prominent services of AWS are EC2 (virtual machine service) and S3 (storage service). The AWS services work well together: you can use them to replicate the local network’s settings, or you can design a new network. The price of the service is: pay-per-use (you pay how much you use).

As an AWS customer, you can choose from different data centers. AWS data centers are distributed around the world.

For example, you can create a virtual machine in Japan and similarly you can create in Ireland. This allows you to serve customers around the world with a global infrastructure.

The chart below shows the AWS data centers. Access is limited in some places: some data centers allow access only to US government agencies, and special conditions apply to China data centers. Data centers span from: Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sweden, and US, … AWS is known as cloud computing platform.

What is Cloud computing?

Most IT solutions are labeled with cloud computing or cloud (cloud). This buzzword can help increase sales, but it is difficult to work with. For the sake of clarity we will proceed to define them.

Could computing or could is the hidden word used to provide or consume information technology resources (IT resource).

Information technology resources in the cloud do not exist directly to users, there are many layers of abstraction in them. The abstraction level provided by the cloud ranges from virtual machines to software as a service (Saas – software as a service) on complex distributed systems. Resources are always available based on the needs of the user and you only pay for what you use.

Cloud computing: is a popular, convenient model based on the need for network access to share resources allowing us to configure on networks, virtual machines, storage, applications and services. Helping us to create quick releases with minimal and minimum cost of service provider interaction and management.

Cloud is usually divided into three categories:

• Public: cloud is managed by an organization and used publicly.
• Private: cloud is distributed IT infrastructure to a single organization.
• Hybird: is a combination between private and public cloud.

AWS is a public cloud service. The could computing service is divided into several categories:

• Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) – Provides basic resources such as computing, storage, and networking. Using virtual machines: Amazon S2, Google Computing Engine, and Microsoft Azure.
• Platform as a service (Paas) – Provides a platform for deploying applications to the cloud: AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Google App Engine and Heroku.
• Software as a servie (Saas- software service) – Is the combination of infrastructure and software running in the cloud, including applications such as Amazon WorkSpaces, Google Apps for Work and Microsoft Office 365.

AWS’s product portfolio includes: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. We’ll find out specifically what they can do in the next section.
