Apple’s MagSafe Duo wireless charger charges less than the regular MagSafe

Tram Ho

Apple has updated its product list on its online store, with the MagSafe Duo charger not officially launched yet. Apple also revealed how the MagSafe Duo works with a number of different chargers. Accordingly, the MagSafe Duo charges at up to 11W with 20W USB-C charger, and up to 14W with 27W or more charger.

That means that if you combine the MagSafe Duo with the $ 19 20W charger, Apple’s current cheapest USB-C charger, the MagSafe Duo won’t be as fast as a regular MagSafe charger. MagSafe chargers can provide up to 15W with a 20W charger.

At $ 129, it looks like the MagSafe Duo has turned out to be an expensive accessory, without being really effective. If you want to use the MagSafe Duo charger with the highest capacity, you’ll have to buy a 30W adapter for $ 49 used for the MacBook Air. That also meant the total cost increased to nearly 180 USD.

You can use the MagSafe Duo while traveling, if you don’t want to have to bring two separate chargers for your iPhone and Apple Watch. But if used at home, the MagSafe Duo will be an expensive accessory, but its performance is not worth the price.

Currently, MagSafe Duo has no official launch date. Apple still lists this wireless charger as “coming soon”.
