Apple will equip Force Touch technology for the Touch Bar of the MacBook

Tram Ho

If you don’t know, the Force Touch sensor was first introduced with the first-generation Apple Watch, allowing the screen to identify the pressure of the finger touch to perform various activities based on impact intensity.

This technology was later brought to the trackpad of the 2015 MacBook, so the trackpad can function no different than normal trackpads even without any mechanical buttons. That same year, the iPhone 6S was equipped with 3D Touch, which is essentially the same technology as Force Touch, which was unfortunately killed by Apple on recent iPhone generations.

And while the Apple Watch is no longer Force Touch, Apple still seems to have plans to bring this feature to another product. According to the Patently Apple page, the company’s newly registered patent shows a Touch Bar featuring a pin press pressure determination!

A patent filed in May 2019 describes the Touch Bar on a MacBook with the circuits used to activate Force Touch. Apple doesn’t provide any further details regarding how it works, but it’s not hard to predict that the Force Touch on the Touch Bar will be used to help users avoid mistaking, something quite a lot of MacBook users with The Touch Bar has been complaining for so long.

Right now, the only Mac with a Touch Bar is the MacBook Pro, and Apple has never expressed its intention to bring this interactive OLED display strip to another, as evidenced by the recently updated MacBook Air. Only the Touch ID fingerprint sensor is available.

Would you like a new Touch Bar that supports Force Touch on a MacBook? Or do you prefer physical function keys?
