Apple recommends users to update iOS 14.8 operating system immediately, to avoid serious security holes

Apple has just released the latest updates for the iOS, macOS and watchOS operating systems, and recommends that users download and install it immediately to avoid a serious security hole. This security flaw has been discovered by researchers at Citizen Lab, and it is thought that it can be used to install spyware.

The researchers say this vulnerability allows the “zero-click” installation of the Pegasus spyware (users do not need to click on any links or install any software to be infected). This software is said to be able to steal data, passwords and activate the microphone or camera on the device.

Given how dangerous this vulnerability is, users should immediately install the latest iOS 14.8, macOS Big Sur 11.6 and watchOS 7.6.2 updates.

Citizen Lab discovered this security vulnerability from a message with a malicious file attached. Soon after, Citizen Lab reported this vulnerability to Apple on September 7. In addition, the iOS 14.8 and macOS Big Sur updates also fix a security bug related to WebKit. Apple said the vulnerability could have been actively exploited, but did not elaborate.
