The biggest cinematic universes today are constantly looking for ways to expand their scale and “encroach” into the field of television. After the MCU, Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse is also preparing to bring Godzilla, King Kong and a series of other giant beasts to the small screen, through the Apple TV+ streaming platform.

Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (the author of the Hawkeye comics) have been chosen as the “leaders” for this series. In addition, a few members of Toho – the film distribution center and Japanese theater production, and Safe House Pictures, will also participate in the project as executive producer.

MonsterVerse is preparing to produce its first TV series on Disney+.

Currently, the Legendary and Apple series still have no official title and will be set after the events of Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), certainly has the presence of Godzilla as well as many other Titan species. In addition, this series also focuses on a completely new family, having a close relationship with Monarch – an organization that is already very familiar to the audience through the movies in MonsterVerse.

Legendary began exploiting Toho’s giant beasts in 2014 in the blockbuster Godzilla. The success that this film brought has motivated them to build a larger monster cinematic universe, with more characters, including King Kong – which is not owned by Toho. To date, MonsterVerse has launched a total of 4 projects, including Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021).
