The lawsuit was filed recently in the Eastern District Court of Texas, USA. The plaintiffs claim that the iPhone 6’s battery is faulty, making it unable to function reliably.

According to plaintiff Robert Franklin’s complaint in Hopkins County, Texas, his iPhone 6 exploded while he was listening to music. Specifically, Franklin discovered that the machine does not automatically switch cards. He tried to pick up the device to check it and it suddenly exploded and caught fire right in front of Franklin’s eyes.

In the lawsuit, he injured his eyes and wrist as a result of the iPhone explosion. The wrist injury occurred after the fire broke out, causing him to fall and Franklin used his hand to brace himself.

The plaintiff said: “Due to the faulty battery, the plaintiff’s iPhone 6 is not safe to operate and is the reason why it was destroyed after it exploded.”

Damage incurred by the plaintiff includes the cost of replacing the iPhone and the cost of medical treatment after the injury.

Currently, the plaintiff wants a trial and requires Apple to compensate the owner of the exploded iPhone 6 and accidental damages such as replacement costs, attorneys’ fees and charges. to sue. Compensation amount is estimated at 75,000 USD for the damages of Robert Franklin and a total fine of about 5 million USD for all the plaintiffs participating in the lawsuit.

Apple started selling the iPhone 6 in 2015, and the plaintiff bought it in 2018, a year before the incident. At this point it is not clear how the pre-detonated iPhone 6’s condition was.
