Apple is likely to change its strategy, launching up to four new iPhones in 2020
- Tram Ho
Apple has launched the top 3 iPhones every year, since September 2017. However, JP Morgan analysts believe that Apple is preparing for a major strategic reform, starting from iPhone 12. launched next year.
JP Morgan believes that Apple is developing up to 4 new iPhone models. Those are 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones, along with two 6.1-inch iPhone models. Analysts also think there will be two Pro and two standard versions.
The regular iPhone 12 will come in 2 sizes
The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will be the successor to the newly launched 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro. The iPhone will have a dual rear camera like the iPhone 11, but will have an OLED screen like the iPhone 11 Pro.
The new iPhone 12 is smaller in size and can target iPhone 5 or SE customers. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will be somewhere between iPhone SE and iPhone 8.
However, if users don't like a compact iPhone, and do not need the high-priced Pro version, Apple will offer the option of a 6.1-inch iPhone 12. The iPhone will succeed the iPhone 11, but will still have an OLED screen. Chances are Apple will name this version as iPhone 12 Max.
iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will be larger in size
Besides the two versions of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max, Apple will launch two high-end versions, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 12 Pro will have a 6.1-inch screen, larger than the iPhone 11 Pro. Besides, the bezel and the notch will also be reduced. On the back will be a 4-camera setup, with the addition of a ToF depth sensor.
iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch screen, with the same upgrades and enhancements as above. In addition, two high-end iPhone models will be integrated with 5G network technology.
There will be major changes in 2021
JP Morgan stated that Apple will once again change its iPhone launch strategy by 2021. Accordingly, Apple will launch two standard iPhones in the first half of the year, and the second half will launch a higher-end version. .
The new strategy will allow Apple to stabilize the supply chain throughout the year, instead of just the last few months after the launch of the new iPhone. It also helps Apple compete with other manufacturers by constantly launching new smartphones throughout the year.
However, this is only the judgment of analysts. We'll have to wait and see if Apple ventures to change the strategy that has been around since the launch of the first iPhone.
