According to a Bloomberg report by Apple analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a device with a folding screen with a screen size of up to 20 inches. This mysterious device is described as an iPad hybrid MacBook.
Mark Gurman said Apple is indeed working on a device with a folding screen, confirming a previous statement by Display Supply Chain executive Ross Young. Last week, Mr. Young revealed Apple’s plan, which is to develop a very large folding screen device.
According to Bloomberg, the mysterious Apple device will have a full touch screen, eliminating the physical keyboard and trackpad. It’s like a MacBook with a touch pad, and can expand into a giant iPad.
This is not the first device on the market with such an idea. Lenovo did the same thing when it launched the ThinkPad X1 Fold, with a 13-inch display that folds to become a laptop with two touchscreens. However, according to technology experts, the ThinkPad X1 Fold has not really brought the best experience yet.
Mark Gurman says Apple’s foldable MacBook-iPad hybrid could be released in 2026. Which means we’ll be a long way from seeing this groundbreaking device from Apple. Meanwhile, Apple has yet to signal that it is developing a folding iPhone, to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line.
