Apple brings iCloud to Android via a web browser

Tram Ho

Quietly silent, Apple has just launched a mobile version of its web interface that gives users access to iCloud services like Notes, Reminders, and Photos. Just like the desktop version, mobile users can go to icloud.com, and the interesting thing is that this mobile website works well with all browsers on both iOS and Android (of course Android will have a few. limit). However, this mobile version of the website has a much smaller amount of functionality than what you have ever seen on a desktop website.

Specifically, the iCloud mobile website only has web apps for Photos, Notes, Find iPhone and Reminders. While the desktop website also has Mail, Contacts, Calendar, iCloud Drive, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Find Friends. Maybe Apple will add more applications to the mobile web version in the near future.

You can take a closer look at the mobile iCloud website interface in the screenshots below.

In general, the core features of the applications are present. Photos lets you browse, view, and share photos (sharing is much more limited than the Photos app on iOS). Notes allows you to browse and write notes …

If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, it’s better to use applications specific to this operating system, as they are fully featured and have much better performance. And if you use the desktop, once again, you’ll enjoy more functionality than the mobile website. Anyway, being able to access iCloud core features on Android phones is a big advantage, as most Apple services don’t have apps written specifically for Android.

In the past, things that iOS users could easily do, like browsing photos stored on iCloud, had no viable solution for Android, and there were quite a few people for one reason or another. live in both the Android and Apple worlds because of the nature of the devices they’re using.

However, it seems that Apple still has a lot of work to do. Early users reported experiencing problems related to Android experience, rendering them unable to use certain features, or making it more difficult to use. Apple’s bringing iCloud to Android, even as a mobile website, is still a welcome start; But we’ll have to wait a while to see how much better things will be if Apple intends to optimize this experience and enhance many of the missing features.
