The latest Android operating system known by the code name Android Q, is currently in the public beta stage since March this year. There has been a lot of speculation on the web around this name: Which Google will use the “Q” at the top to make the official name for the new operating system? Quindim? Queen’s cake? Quiche? It was all wrong, because today, Google announced it would obviously have no names at all. New Android will be called … Android 10. Surprise yet?

The new name this time was not creative at all, but it was oddly simple. Google said it decided to give up sweet naming because of concerns about users’ reading comprehension problems.

” Over the years, we heard feedback from users that names are not always easy to understand for people around the globe” – Kaori Miyake, communications manager for Android at Google said.

Android is distributed worldwide and is present on more than 2.5 billion devices, so naming each operating system version by name of a US dessert will make a large number of users wonder. Also true, when not everyone on this planet is fortunate to have once tasted to know what “Froyo” is. And do you feel sorry for New Zealanders and British people when they think “Pie” is a meat pie, not a wheat flour cake like in America?

” Marshmallow is not really a popular dish all over the world” – Miyake said – ” It’s always hard to find a name that relates to everyone.”

The English alphabetical naming does not help people who do not speak English better understand. If your alphabet does not have ABC, there is no easy way to know whether Honeycomb is in front of Jelly Bean and KitKat!

Android 10 for convenience!

Another update that Google has just made to help users identify the Android operating system more: although the green robot will still be present, but the word “android” in the logo of the new operating system will change from green to black. . This change will help users with visual disabilities more readable. Google also announced a new set of colors with higher contrast for the Android brand, which helps improve readability in all conditions that the logo appears.

If you think Google ignores the “Q” character because it can’t find any sweet that starts with this letter, you should know that Google will give up the naming method permanently. From Android 10 later, the company said it will only use the Android naming method only.
