In the wake of rumors that Amazon is preparing to launch Bitcoin and crypto payment solutions later this year, the e-commerce giant has finally answered: No.
“ Despite our interest in the field, speculations about our particular plans for cryptocurrencies are untrue .” An Amazon representative told CoinDesk in an email yesterday. ” We remain focused on exploring how this will impact customers who shop on Amazon .”
An earlier report on the City AM news site, which is distributed for free in the UK, cited an “inside source” as to the company’s intentions. Supporting this rumor is a job posting on Amazon’s website that says the company is looking for a head of “blockchain and cryptocurrency products”.
However, many people believe that this is the reason leading to the recovery of the Bitcoin price in the past few days, from $ 30,000 at times to nearly $ 40,000. Not long after Bloomberg reported that Amazon denied these plans, the Bitcoin price quickly dropped below $37,000.
